Stocks gave up early gains to end the day significantly lower as investors continue to weigh efforts to reopen the economy while keeping a lid on the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
ended around 457 points lower, down 1.9%, near 23,765, according to preliminary figures, after rising more than 160 points in earlier action. There was no clear catalyst for the move lower. The S&P 500
fell around 60 points, or 2.1%, to end near 2,870, while the Nasdaq Composite
broke a six-day winning streak to drop around 190 points, or 2.1%, to finish near 9,002.
